WoW Mining Guide

In this WoW Mining Guide I will provide you with maps that show you the best routes for running in each area to find mining nodes.  I recommend that you get the Gatherer Addon if you don't already have it.  It helps you keep the locations of all of your previous finds.  You can always find it here.

Mining is a GREAT way to earn money when you're first beginning your character.  Metal bars and ore sell for a pretty good price on the Auction House and there are always people looking to buy them while leveling their professions.  If you're looking for a gold guide, this one is the best:  Gold Secrets

Remember, always keep Find Minerals on while you're searching or questing.  Another tip is to have this enchant on your gloves:  [Formula: Enchant Gloves - Advanced Mining]  +5 may not seem like a lot, but it makes a big difference when you're close to being able to mine the next type of ore.  After you've gotten it to yellow, remove the gloves and get the node back to orange for extra skill points!

Getting Started

First you need to head to a Mining Trainer and learn Apprentice Mining... don't forget your [Mining Pick]! You don't need to have it equipped, just in your backpack.  Did I mention that you need to buy a mining pick?  Yeah, I've forgotten to do it before...

1-65

For the Alliance you can follow the circuits drawn on the maps below.  Just click the link and it will open in  a new window.  You will be mining [Copper Ore].  My suggestion is to get 30 copper ore, then smelt them all (as you will get skill ups for smelting at this stage)... it saves a lot of time as opposed to simply mining.

For the Horde simply follow the circuits drawn on the maps below.  By clicking the link, the map for the area will open in a new window.  You will be mining [Copper Ore].  The best suggestion is to mine 30 copper ore, the smelt them for all of the skill points before mining more copper ore.  This will save you some time.

65-125

Learn Journeyman Mining.  During this part of the guide you will be mining [Tin Ore], [Silver Ore], and [Copper Ore].  A good plan is to mine Tin until 75, then proceed to smelt Bronze from your Tin Ore and Copper Ore.  This should get you to about a 90-95 skill level.

At 75 you can learn how to Smelt Silver.  It's a good idea to buy [Silver Ore] from the Auction House (if you can afford it) and smelt as much as possible for skill ups.  This can usually get you to around 122 (when it turns green).  After that, you can either mine more or try smelting Bronze or Silver until 125.

Here are the various places to mine Tin, Silver and Copper.  Just click the zone and map with the mining route will pop up in a new window.

125-175

Learn Expert Mining from your trainer.  In this part of the guide you will be mining from [Iron Ore], [Tin Ore] and [Gold Ore] nodes.

Mine Iron nodes until you reach 155.  At 155 you can learn to smelt gold!  A shortcut I recommend here is to buy about 30 gold ores from the Auction House and smelt them for the skill points until you reach 175.  After that, just sell them on the Auction House.

The following links will open up in a new window with maps of the mining routes I suggest for various zones!

175-245

Remember to learn Artisan Mining at 200!  You'll be mining [Mithril Ore] and [Truesilver Ore]

This part is pretty simple.  Just follow the mining routes that can be found by clicking the links below to mine Mithril.  At 230 you can learn to smelt Truesilver, smelting this can help you reach 245.
