WoW Skinning Leveling Guide

In this WoW Skinning Leveling Guide I'm going to treat this like you're a higher level that just now changing professions.  If you're a low level character who has just begun skinning, simply skin everything in whatever zone you're in while leveling... and I mean everything! Although Blizzard won't let you skin humanoids for some crazy reason.

Skinning is a great gathering profession for people leveling their Leatherworking.  If you're looking for a guide on that you can always check out my Leatherworking Leveling Guide.  If you aren't a Leatherworker, you can use my WoW Skinning Leveling Guide to farm leather to sell on the Auction House, which is a great way to make money in World of Warcraft.

If you're looking for a complete guide to everything in World of Warcraft, including Power Leveling, Profession Guides, PvP guides and a lot more I'd recommend checking out The Ultimate WoW Guide.

The first thing you'll need to do for our Skinning leveling guide is visit a Skinning Trainer and learn Apprentice Skinning.  Also, remember to buy a [Skinning Knife] you don't need to equip it, just carry it around in your pack.

Skinning Formulas:

Below skill level 100: (Skinning Level / 10) + 10 and rounded down
..example 1: skinning level of 30 (30/10) + 10 = 13, max mob level that can be skinned is level 13
..example 2: skinning level of 95 (95/10) + 10 = 19.5 (round down) max level mob that can be skinned is 19

Over skill level 100: Skinning Level / 5
..example 1: skinning level of 321 (321/5) = 64.2 (round down) Max level of mob that can be skinned is 64
..example 2: skinning level of 449 (449/5) = 89.8 (round down) Max level of mob that can be skinned is 89

Of course, there will be some differences in the starting areas for the Horde and Alliance. After the initial differences, both sides will be able to follow the same routes.  Here we go!

Alliance 1-75

You'll want to run around the lake near Ironforge killing and skinning anything you can from 1-50.  At that point you should run to Ironforge and train Journeyman Skinning from Balthus Stoneflayer.  After training, continue killing and skinning everything in your path on your way to Lock Modan.  Don't worry if you don't actually make it to 75.

Horde 1-75

Start at Sen'Jin Village in the souther part of Durotar and head towards Orgrimmar while killing and skinning everything in your path.  When you reach 50, head into Orgrimmar and train Journeyman Skinning with Thuwd.  After that you'll want to head to The Barrens.  Don't worry about reaching 75, you'll be fine with less than that.
